I paid for server-2003/2008/2012/2016 and never got credit to use for an upgrade when it came time for 2016 to expire, I found you. I work for a nonprofit and sometimes the work is 24/7. They have no more money because of the state of the world and so many people in need. You just helped a lot of people. The cost of Win Server feeds many and provides meds. Thanks again.
Hi Guang,thanks a lot for the detailed instructions. Worked fine for Windows 2022 DC. It was annoying to always re-install the server after the 180 days of evaluation period was gone. Even for testing purposes that may last longer than the granted 180 days.1 question is remaining: What happens if MS asks you to shut down the webpage/KMS server or if you do this on your own Because when I cut the internet connection and changed the system date to 2025 Windows told me that the system cannot be activated because the KMS server is not reachable
In order to issue licenses to RDP clients, your RDS License Server must be activated. To do it, open the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe), right-click the name of your server, and select Activate Server.
The RDS licensing server activation wizard will start. Here you will need to select the activation method you prefer. If your server is connected to the Internet, it can automatically connect to Microsoft servers and activate the RDS license server. If there is no direct Internet access from the server, you can activate the server using a web browser or by phone.
If you right-click the server name in the console and select Review Configuration, you can verify that the RDS License Server is activated and can be used to activate RDSH clients in your domain.
After the RDS License Server is activated and being run, you can reconfigure RD Session Host to obtain CAL licenses from this server. You can set the license type and specify the name of the license server from the Server Manager GUI, using PowerShell, or Group Policy.
When you try to activate any client on such a KMS server, an error will appear that the activation server is unavailable (Error code: 0xC004F074 - No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle []).push({});
1) Get your new WS2019 KMS host key from the VLSC2) Deploy a new server running Windows Server 20193) Install the Volume Activation Services role4) Install the KMS host key, activate your KMS host and update the SRV (_VLMCS) record in DNS by pointing it to the new KMS server
OUR KMS host is W2012 R2 server and it has the patch KB3173424 and the latest security update KB4512488. I installed the Windows Srv 2019 DataCtr/Std KMS key on this host machine and it was successful. Now on my client which is a server 2019 std when I try to activate I get an error stating 0XC004F074 No KMS service could be contacted. This client can actually communicate to the host like I can telnet to KMS Host on port 1688 and then I have manually set the KMS host by using the slmgr.vbs /skms hostserver:1688 cmd.
The first of all, check the time on the kms host and client (the time of the server and client should not be so different, otherwise actication requests may be rejected).Have you activated your KMS host with a new KMS host keyWhat version (build) of Windows are you trying to activate
We want to update our existing KMS Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise incl. SP1) to activate Servers with Windows Server 2012 R2 Enterprise.This time we use the KMS Key for Windows Server 2012 Enterprise.On this KMS Host, we also provide the KMS Keys for Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2013.
Today the Windows group announced some changes in their increased efforts against piracy and new steps being taken to protect Windows Vista (see -03wga.mspx for details). These changes are coming in Windows Vista SP1 (due out in Q1 2008). Along with disabling some of the known exploits that counterfeiters are using, changes are being made to product activation. Specifically, the Reduced Functionality Mode (RFM) is being replaced with new notifications to let customers know that their systems are not genuine when they do not activate or when their systems fail validation.
But back to the change in the process if a server should not be activated. . With Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, when a system was never activated or the activation process failed, the system entered reduced functionality mode (RFM) and certain function and features of the operating system would cease working. Based on customer feedback, we are moving away from reducing functions if a server is not activated properly, and instead will provide clear and prominent notifications to customers that their systems are not activated and require activation. The notifications will be recurring and we will also let them know what steps they should take to activate the system to ensure they are using genuine software. This is similar to what we did with previous versions of Windows.
This update extends KMS for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 to enable the activation of Windows 10-based clients.Note This hotfix is the prerequisite to enable Windows 10 client KMS activations on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 KMS host. After you install this hotfix, the Windows 10 host key (CSVLK) can be installed and activated on the Windows 7 KMS host, and the \"Windows Srv 2012R2 Data Ctr/Std KMS for Windows 10\" host key (CSVLK) can be installed and activated on the Windows Server 2008 R2 KMS host.For more information about KMS, see Understanding KMS.
BUY_WINSERV_2008R2Unless licensing is configured during the initial installation of the Remote Desktop Services role on Windows Server 2008 R2, a 120 day grace period is provided before a license server needs to be installed and activated. The purpose of this chapter, therefore, is to provide details on installing and activating a Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services License Server and subsequently installing Client Access Licenses (CALs).
The first step is to install the Remote Desktop Services License Services server role. The license server does not necessarily have to be installed on a system which is acting as a Remote Desktop Server. The installation can be performed using by selecting Roles from the tree in the left hand panel of the Server Manager tool.If the server is already configured with the Remote Desktop Services role, scroll down the Roles summary page to the Remote Desktop Services section click on the Add Role Services link. In the resulting dialog titled Select Role Services select the check box next to Remote Desktop Licensing and then click Next to proceed to the Configure discovery scope for RD licensing screen as illustrated in the following figure:In the first version of Windows Server 2008, it was necessary to specify a method by which RD Session Host servers (or Terminal Servers as they were known then) would auto-detect the server running the licensing server. With Windows Server 2008 R2, this approach is discouraged, and Microsoft now recommends that each RD Session Host be manually configured with information about the license server. In keeping with this recommendation, leave the Configure a discovery scope for this license server option unselected. Note, however, that this setting may be changed at a later time if required via the RD Licensing Manager tool. Click Next to proceed to the confirmation screen.On a server which is does not have the Remote Desktop Services role installed, open the Server Manager, select Roles from the tree in the left hand panel and select Add Roles. Click Next on the initial screen if it appears so that the Select Server Roles screen is displayed. From the list of roles select the check box next to Remote Desktop Services and click on the Next button.Read the information screen and then proceed to the Select Service Roles screen. Check the box next to Remote Desktop Licensing, click Next and follow the steps outlined above.On the confirmation screen, verify that the information matches your expectations and click Install to initiate the installation process.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[160,600],'techotopia_com-box-1','ezslot_2',130,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-techotopia_com-box-1-0');report this adActivating the RD License ServerOnce the RD License Server has been installed the next task is to activate it. This task is performed using the RD Licensing Manager which may be launched via Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Licensing Manager. Once started, the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager dialog will appear containing a list of detected license servers on the network. The only license server listed in the following figure is the one on the local server. Because this has yet to be activated it is listed with a red circle containing an X mark next to it:if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'techotopia_com-box-4','ezslot_1',154,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-techotopia_com-box-4-0');To activate a license server, right click on the server in the list and select Activate Server. After reading the welcome screen click Next to proceed to the Connection Method screen. The activation process requires communication with Microsoft in one form or another. If the server has an internet connection then the activation can be performed over this connection. The default, recommended method, is to have the RD Licensing Manager automatically connect to gather the information. Failing that, another option is go to the web site using a browser and enter the product ID. Alternatively, if an internet connection is not available or a firewall prevents such access the activation may be performed over the telephone. If Automatic connection is selected, the following dialog will appear as the wizard attempts to contact Microsoft:Once the Microsoft activation server has been located a new dialog will appear prompting for user, company and geographic location information. Complete these details and click Next to proceed. The second screen requests more detailed, but optional information. Either complete this information or click Next to skip to the activation process. Once again the wizard will contact Microsoft and complete the activation. Once completed, the following completion screen will appear:Note that the Start Install Licenses Wizard now check box is selected by default. If you are ready to begin installing Client Access Licenses (CALs) now click on Next. 153554b96e
