On other devices, you can even output audio to multiple speakers at once! Man, it's so easy. The previous generation multi-room system with the Apple TV and iTunes files from a few years back, now the ease with which these new iPod/iPad and even Nexus devices are setup is really amazing. The management and flow are so simple compared to the old technology. Also the drivers are BETTER. As good as an aftermarket OEM system.

OK, so you don't need an Apple. But I have a feeling that the Apple folks feel the same way I do about Apple TV. They feel good about competitive products...and they're pro-competitive. So they'll give you the tools to do it. And share...so that others can emulate. I would imagine so. And be good competition. Plus there are plugins...and apps. Both you and Apple can be better. I have to think this is what they'd like. Even a little patent control for the big guys would be nice. Oh well.
