Sarah Alice Wilkerson Simpson completed her earthly journey March 12, 2007, at Saline Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with NASH (Liver Cirrhosis). She was also a cancer survivor.Sarah was born near Sheridan, Arkansas on November 10, 1931 the daughter of Aubrey Warren and Ruth Chandler Wilkerson. She married Duel Simpson, the love of her life, October 19, 1951. They traveled all 50 states. She was a member of Lost Creek Baptist Church, retired rural letter carrier, and a china painter. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sarah is survived by her loving husband, Duel, who cared for her so faithfully during her illness. Other survivors are two sons, Greg Simpson; Doug Simpson both of Sheridan; one daughter, Renee Harlan (Doug) of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Kara Harlan of Los Angeles, California; Jacob Harlan and Hanna Simpson both of Sheridan; Two brothers, Conrad Wilkerson (Myrtle) of Memphis; Warren Wilkerson (Madelyn) of Sheridan; Five Sisters, Alma Justus (Jim) of Little Rock; Mary Lou Harris (Joe); Peggy Bellomy (Lindsey), Major (retired) Joy Wilkerson; Gail Damron (Orrin) all of Sheridan and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 5-8 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Roberts and Rev. Mark Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Mark Damron, David Damron, Brent Justus, Kent Justus, Mike Bellomy and Jerry Fletcher.
WALKER - Sarah Jane Bernadette, passed away peacefully on Friday July 1, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Floyd. Very special mum to John (Jackie), and devoted grandmother to Nicholas and Adam, all living in England. She will be fondly remembered by her close sister Sheila (Hinds) and special nieces, nephews, Shawna (Mark) Giesler, Douglas (Lori) Slomke, Gwen (Sandy) McDonald and Lou (Terry) Addison as well as all her many other family members. Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Johnston, and sister Patrica (Ken). Bernadette taught for many years in Gore Bay, and spoke fondly of her early years teaching on Barrie Island. She helped and supported Floyd on the farm and loved to keep her garden and lawns looking immaculate into her 90's. She loved cooking and baking and entertaining family and friends at her home. She was also an avid quilter, an upstanding member of the local community and always generous to everyone she met. She will be sorely missed by all her friends. Visitation will be held on Friday July 8th, from 10am - 12 noon followed by a funeral service at the Simpson Funeral Home, Gore Bay. Interment Gordon Cemetery.
